Crypto prices on Mar 31: BTC slips below $82K, XRP crashes 3%

The cryptocurrency market was in the red on Monday, with Bitcoin (BTC) continuing its fall over the weekend. The crypto market’s downturn is being driven by weak demand in spot markets and a clear shift toward derisking, with traders hesitant to take new positions. President Donald Trump’s upcoming “Liberation Day”—when specific “reciprocal tariffs” are expected to be assigned to various countries—has added to market uncertainty, further unsettling traders. Bitcoin fell below $82,000, reversing sharply after nearing $90,000 last week. The leading cryptocurrency has dropped 12.21% in the first quarter, putting it on track for its worst quarterly performance since 2018. The global crypto market cap stands at $2.66 trillion, down 1.02% in the past 24 hours. Trading volume has dropped 11.18% to $52.94 billion.
